Http://www.lathamtrading.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=364 1873 Colt Peacemaker - Gold Finish $79.95 This is the famous Colt Peacemaker, often referred to as the gun that won the West, though it was carried by many outlaws as well as officers of the peace. The Single-Action revolver had to be cocked manually for each shot. It was the first metallic cartridge revolver adopted as a standard sidearm in the post-Civil War West. This model sports the quick-draw gunfighter's favorite barrel length, 4-3/4" and a faux engraved gold finish. This authentic replica has a working action but doesn't fire and can't be made to fire. Spin the cylinder, cock the hammer and pull the trigger on this reproduction that mimics the weight, size and balance of the original. 10-1/2" overall.

Photos would be helpful. You likely have a commemorative medal, and it might be made of brass or bronze. I recommend you take the item to a local coin dealer or two. Please check the link below for further information.
