Question: How much is a 1970 gold coin?

A standard issue 1970 US Dime should weigh 2.268 grams. If it weighs much more than that, you might have something, but I very much doubt you do.

These coins were made to sell as a set - half, quarter, dime, nickel, cent - all coated with gold wash to look like gold coins. They were sold via mail mainly but you could find them in coin stores and other stores that carried that type of novelty. You will find single coins wondering around as the buyers spent them on purpose or accident or whatever. There is not enough gold on them to warrant anything else than what they are - in this case, it is worth a dime. Spend it as such unless you find someone whom will pay you more for it.
